Kremlin: Western countries disagree over sanctions against Russia

MOSCOW, Feb 9 (PRIME) -- The West is undecided whether to introduce new sanctions against Russia because some countries support them and some are against, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Wednesday.

"Very contradictory statements are coming from the West, the Western countries. Some capitals say that sanctions against this country must be adopted immediately for an unclear reason,” Peskov said.

“Other capitals say that there must be no sanctions without Russia’s excessive aggression, otherwise sanctions will lose the containment effect."

He also said that the tensions around Ukraine trigger market volatility, but Russia has national development programs and different measures to support the economy that will prevent a decline.
